Olessya Kurgayeva – Hula Hoops, Silks

Olessya is arguably one of the world’s most dazzling hula hoop artist. Hailing all the way from Kazakhstan, she began learning various circus acts as hobby at just 12-years-old. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in a performing arts college to master the aerial web, perch, lyra and her specialty – hula hoops.

While in college she performed in the Kaza National Circus in Kazakhstan when a producer recognized her talents and asked Olessya to perform in Japan. She decided to leave college early to get a jump on her career.

Eventually she toured in China and Russia before making her way to the U.S. to perform all across the West and East Coast for the Moscow State Circus. Olessya then headed across the Pacific Ocean to star in the Cirque Hawaii in the heart of Waikiki on the island of Oahu. When the show closed, she continued performing her hula hoops performance for Cirque Polynesia. When Olessya’s not working, she enjoys keeping busy by
teaching gymnastics to children at Valley Isle Gymnastics in Kahului.
